Hello! I am a fourth grade teacher at Independence Elementary School. I graduated from Winthrop University with a degree in Elementary Education. This is my fifteenth year of teaching, and my 16th year at Independence. I am so excited about this school year!
I am from Myrtle Beach, and I travel there often to see my family. I love the New York Yankees, Dallas Cowboys, Virginia Tech Hokies, and Winthrop Eagles. I also enjoy reading, music and movies! I also love to travel. This summer I traveled to Myrtle Beach, Virginia, and Florida!!
I can not wait for the year to begin!! I want this year to be successful, and I believe everyone can reach success if given the opportunity. Teachers not only have a responsibility to teach the curriculum, but to teach every student to be a life-long learner. I hope to prepare my students for the future by teaching cooperation, responsibility, and other citizenship skills. Academically, lessons will be based SC Curriculum Standards for fourth grade. We will be working on reading comprehension, word study, writing, mathematical problem solving, science inquiry skills, and US history until 1880.
I enjoy being involved at Independence. I sponsor the student council called Patriot Council. I also help with Step Team. Independence is a partnership school with Winthrop University, and I am the liaison.
Parents are always welcome in the classroom. Feel free to call, email, or send notes anytime you have a concern or need to communicate with me. Working together so that your child has a successful year is very important.
